About chiêm.

WHO ARE WE?

Standing alone, the word "Chiem" does not convey much substance, but combined with other words, it expresses deep layers of meaning. Just like while a single community isn't complete, 54 minority groups together form an indestructible bond.

With the Chiem project, we want to instill the beauty of Vietnamese culture in the masses, specifically the lifestyles of ethnic minorities dwelling in the Western region - a beauty so serene it cannot be wavered. That being said, it is undeniable how much of an impact Covid-19 has had on our country, rendering some families incapable of making ends meet. On the flip side, this is probably a great time for all of us to slow down a bit after years caught up in strenuous work. Not everyone could enjoy such privilege, though. For ethnic minorities, a difficult life is now even more challenging. A large portion relies on the development of the service industry, especially tourism in the Northwest to live by. This loss of income caused by the pandemic has led them to extreme poverty, and for most migration is inevitable. The worst thing is, this hassle not only burdens the shoulders of parents, but also on children who are robbed of the opportunity to go to school with peers.

To help alleviate this pressing matter, Chiem was founded by high school students with the mission of offering help, as well as sharing insightful stories on the cultural life of ethnic minorities in the Northwest.

All the money we earn from the painting exhibition will be donated to paying tuition fees and improving learning facilities for local children, thus reducing much financial burden placed on ethnic households.

Let’s spread our love with Chiem!

All people should be given the chance to embrace who they are,
define their future, and change the world.
